A man has been charged with rape following reports a woman had been sexually assaulted at a park in Peterborough. Cambridgeshire Police placed a cordon in Stanley Park on Thursday (September 3), after receiving reports of the incident.
Officers were called to the park at around 5.30am and an investigation was conducted by specialist officers. A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of rape in connection with the incident.
Now, the force has confirmed that Tamour Nawaz, 24, of no fixed address, has been charged with rape and possession of a knife. He appeared at Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (September 5), and has been remanded into custody.
The force has urged anyone who was in and around Stanley Park at about 5.30am on September 3 to contact police on 101 quoting 35/NT/18820/26.
