Prices and times to know ahead of Kynren 2026 season

The North East’s open-air live-action spectacular returns to Bishop Auckland, with new daytime attractions.

This year is bringing a brand new 2,500-seat arena that will host the ‘Lost Feather’ show with an array of birds as part of the introduction of many new daytime attractions at Kynren.

Here are 10 essential things to know to plan your visit, including prices and key times.

1. What is Kynren?

Kynren is a spectacular, award-winning, open-air live-action attraction held in Bishop Auckland.

2. When does the season start and finish?

The 2026 season runs from July 18 to September 12. Performances take place on Saturdays and select Fridays throughout the summer.

The day park ‘The Storied Lands’ opens Tuesday – Sunday 10.30am – 4.30pm and is closed Mondays.

The night park ‘An Epic Tale of England’ is open every Saturday night throughout the season with additional performances have been scheduled for Fridays on August 21 and September 4 following what organisers described as ‘unprecedented demand’.

3. What’s new for 2026?

This year introduces “Kynren – The Storied Lands,” a daytime park experience that immerses visitors in live shows and interactive attractions.

The new park will be open from 10.30am to 4.30pm, Tuesday to Sunday, from July 18 to September 12.

4. What’s included in the daytime park?

Day visitors can enjoy five live attractions under a single ticket.

Highlights include “The Lost Feather,” a new 30-minute bird show featuring more than 250 birds, including pelicans, cranes, and birds of prey, soaring through a 2,500-seat arena.

Other experiences include “Land of the Vikings,” “The Trusty Steed,” “Legend of the Wear,” and the Victorian Imaginariums maze.

5. What are ticket prices?

Advance Saver tickets for the day park are £30 for adults and £20 for children aged four to 16.

Gate admission is £40 for adults and £30 for children.

All tickets are subject to a £1 booking fee. Children aged three and under go free when seated on an adult’s knee.

6. Can you visit the day park and night show together?

Combined tickets are available on Saturdays and select Fridays (August 21, September 4) for visitors who want to experience both the day park and evening show.

Day-only admission is not available on these dates.

7. When does the night show start?

“Kynren – An Epic Tale of England” begins at sunset.

Start times vary throughout the season:

• July 18, 25, and August 1: 9.15pm, finishing at 10.45pm
• August 8: 9pm, finishing at 10.30pm
• August 15: 8.45pm, finishing at 10.15pm
• August 21, 22: 8.30pm, finishing at 10pm
• August 29: 8.15pm, finishing at 9.45pm
• September 4, 5: 8pm, finishing at 9.30pm
• September 12: 7.45pm, finishing at 9.15pm

8. What’s included with night show tickets?

The 90-minute night show features epic storytelling, live stunts, and fireworks.

Guests can enter the grounds 2.5 hours before showtime to explore free attractions such as the Viking Village and enjoy pre-show entertainment.

Food and drink are available to purchase on site.

9. What extras are available?

Parking and shuttle transfers can be booked for an additional fee, along with optional dining packages.

These can be booked on the Kynren website.

10. What about accessibility?

Organisers said: “All attractions take place in purpose-built arenas or immersive environments with accessible routes and seating throughout.”

A full schedule for “Kynren – The Storied Lands” will be emailed to ticket holders ahead of their visit and is also available to collect on arrival.

Food outlets and a play area for younger visitors will be open during the day.
