Puddlers Corner, Consett to be closed for days due to 12-inch burst

Northumbrian Water has put a temporary road closure in place in Consett at Puddlers Corner and Rotary Way after the burst damaged some of the road surface.

The burst, which has not affected customers water supplies, happened near the roundabout by KFC and McDonald’s.

Northumbrian Water has said it expects the closure to be in place for a number of days.

Posting on Facebook, the water company said: “We’re currently repairing a 12-inch burst in Consett at Puddlers Corner / Rotary Way, near the big roundabout by KFC and McDonalds.

“Water supplies aren’t affected. However, due to the force of the burst, some of the road surface was damaged.

“A temporary road closure is in place to help keep our crew and motorists safe, and we expect this to be in place for a couple of days while repairs are carried out.

“We’d like to say thanks to our customers and road users for their patience while our teams work to get things back to normal.”
