Recent cases heard at Scarborough Magistrates Court

James Arron-Cameron, 33, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to failure to comply with the requirements of the sex offenders’ register by not telling police his new address.

He was given a 35-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months and ordered to pay a £187 statutory surcharge.

Jamie Clements, 54, of Fell Close, Scalby, pleaded guilty to having an indecent image of a child and having extreme pornography.  

He was given an 18-month community order with 30 days’ rehabilitative activities and 200 hours’ unpaid work. He was made subject to the sex offenders’ register and a sexual harm prevention order, both for five years and must pay £85 prosecution costs and a £114 statutory surcharge.

Joshua Ratcliffe-Tunnah, 28, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to causing actual bodily harm to a man at Whitby  Youth Hostel and causing criminal damage to his glasses.

He was jailed for 24 weeks and ordered to pay £245 compensation.

Jacob Hodgson, 26, of St Johns Road, Scarborough, pleaded guilty to driving whilst disqualified in Scarborough.

He was given a 12-month community order with 50 hours’ unpaid work and ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs and a £114 statutory surcharge.  He was banned for a further four months.

Brian Martin, 48, of Seamer Street, Scarborough, pleaded guilty to assaulting a man, having a wooden broom as an offensive weapon in public, using threatening words or behaviour, and failure to give police his name and address, all committed in Scarborough.

He was given a 12-month community order with 40 hours’ unpaid work and ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs and a £114 statutory surcharge.
