1. Rodri is the subject of interest from Barcelona with the La Liga giants having seen an opening offer for the Manchester City midfielder rejected
2. That bid fell well short of City’s valuation, with the Blues seeking at least £60million for the Spain international who has just been named the best player at the World Cup having helped his nation to lift the trophy
3. The 30-year-old is in the final year of his contract at the Etihad and while City would like him to sign an extension that has been on the table for months, the Blues will reluctantly accept his desire to leave and would rather sell him this summer for a fee than lose him for free in 12 months
4. But City are not prepared to allow their Balon d’Or winner to depart on the cheap
5. Real Madrid showed serious interest in Rodri but have now stepped back from the race with Barca leading the charge for his signature
