Search for missing person between Staithes and Sandsend
Staithes Coastguard said the search began just after midnight for a person believed to be missing somewhere between the villages of Staithes and Sandsend, part of the coast north of Whitby.
It was joined by coastguard crews from Whitby and Redcar, along with North Yorkshire Police and a National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter, and members of Cleveland Mountain Rescue.
A coastguard spokesperson said: “Search teams were rapidly deployed, including a police search dog, while NPAS searched from the air.
“The person was subsequently located and all services were stood down at 4.10am.”
