Shildon police seize catapult used to target wildlife

Officers from Shildon’s neighbourhood policing team seized the item on Thursday (September 18) because of ‘concerns it was being used as an offensive weapon’.

Sharing an image of the catapult on its social media page, the policing team said it would “continue to take action to tackle ASB.”

A full statement from Shildon’s neighbourhood policing team said: “Officers have seized a catapult following reports of it being used to target wildlife and cause criminal damage.

“Over the last few months, Shildon Police have seen an increase in youth-related ASB involving wildlife and criminal damage.

“The catapult was seized due to concerns it was being used as an offensive weapon and in connection with these reports.

“Officers will continue to take action to tackle ASB and protect our community.”
