Sky announces relaunch of iconic channel as 2 channels axed

Later this month, Sky One will be available to watch again on channel 106, where viewers will see comedy and entertainment programmes.

New shows such as The Dyers’ Caravan Park and Gemma Collins: Four Weddings and a Baby will be homed on channel 106 alongside popular shows like Rob & Romesh Vs.., The Paper and Ted.



Sky announces the return of channel 106

Channel 106 will be available to watch in three weeks’ time, with the launch date being Tuesday, February 24.

Sky One will also be the home for Saturday Night Live UK, which will launch later this year.

While Sky One returns, it replaces Sky Showcase and Sky Max to bring entertainment together in one place.

Who can get Sky One on their TV?

Sky Ultimate TV, Sky Signature and Sky + customers will have access to Sky One.

The broadcaster reassures customers they won’t lose any content on their TV as their favourite shows from Sky Showcase and Sky Max will simply move over to the new channel.

If you have Sky Q, Sky Comedy will move to channel 113, Sky Documentaries will move to channel 114 and Sky Crime will move to channel 121.

Sky Arts will be available to watch on channel 122, Challenge moves to 130, Sky Sci-Fi moves to channel 145 and Sky Nature will be available on channel 124.

If you have Sky Glass and Stream, Sky Comedy moves to channel 109, Sky Documentaries moves to channel 110, Sky Crime moves to channel 111 and Sky Arts moves to channel 112, while Challenge will go over to channel 116 and Sky Sci-Fi will be available on channel 114.

Reacting to the announcement, one person shared on X: “Great news! My first (paid) TV production job was with Sky One and it was very good to me for nearly 3 years”.

While plenty of others commented on a thread about the change.

One commented: “What took its place? I never noticed it was missing!”

Another said: “Never knew it went away. Why did they get rid of their most recognisable channel?”

Someone else said: “Wish they would change sky sports back to numbered channels”.
