Targeted patrols in Chorley lead to six arrests in 24 hours

Chorley Police said officers carried out a series of targeted patrols across Chorley, Coppull and Adlington in response to concerns raised by residents through Lancashire Talking surveys.

The operation saw officers tackle speeding hotspots, with a number of motorists stopped and warned. One driver was issued with a speeding ticket, while police also handed out a Section 59 warning, which can be used against drivers causing alarm, distress or annoyance through the use of a vehicle.

Officers also seized an illegal e-bike and removed an abandoned car which had been parked at a bus stop.

The force also targeted areas linked to drug use and suspected dealing.

Police said officers carried out 17 stop searches during the operation.

The searches resulted in one arrest and the recovery of a quantity of controlled drugs. A number of people were also warned about the illicit use of controlled substances.

In total, six arrests were made by the task force over the 24-hour period.

A spokesperson for Chorley Police said officers would continue targeting those responsible for nuisance and crime in local communities.

They added that much of the team’s work is guided by information and intelligence provided by members of the public and encouraged residents to continue reporting concerns.
