The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has announced the launch of a new tourism route along Banglamphu and Ong Ang Canals, offering visitors a fresh way to experience the Old City’s canal-based heritage during Bangkok Design Week 2026.
The route was developed through cooperation among TAT, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, the Creative Economy Agency, partner agencies, private-sector operators, and local communities. It features six sub-routes that combine walking and boat travel, allowing visitors to enjoy views along Banglamphu Canal, explore areas around Rattanakosin Island, and learn about the historical role of canals, bridges, and fortifications in the capital.
The program also introduces travelers to the Banglamphu–Ban Phan Thom area, known for its long-established commercial district and traditional crafts such as embroidery, gold-leaf production, and niello work. Another section covers the Ong Ang–Chakrawat area, a multicultural neighborhood with a long history as a center for the Thai and Chinese herbal trade.
Guided activities along the Banglamphu Canal–Ong Ang Canal route will be offered during Bangkok Design Week 2026, running from January 29 to February 8. Boat services and guided tours have been arranged, with schedules and activity details available through the Bangkok Design Week website and the 1672 Travel Buddy service.
