A teenage boy was assaulted by a masked man in a Co Antrim car park on Saturday night.

Police received a report at around 8.50pm on January 31 that a teenage boy had been assaulted in a car park in The Diamond area of Ahoghill.

An unknown masked man is understood to have assaulted the teen with a blunt object, believed to have been a crowbar across his face. The boy was left “shocked and terrified” by the incident, that required hospital treatment for facial injuries.

A man in his 40s has been arrested in connection with the incident. Sergeant Edens said: “We received a report at approximately 8.50pm on Saturday, 31st January that a teenage boy had been assaulted in a carpark within The Diamond area.

“It’s understood the suspect, an unknown man who was wearing a mask, assaulted the teenager with a blunt object, believed at this time to be a crowbar across his face.

“He sustained facial injuries as a result of the attack – and required hospital treatment. He was also left shocked and terrified by what happened.

“A man aged in his 40s has been arrested in connection with the report this afternoon, Sunday 1st February, and remains in police custody at this time as enquiries continue into the circumstances of what happened.
