The pub has an open fire inside which keeps it toasty
During the cold winter months, you may want to find somewhere cosy to warm up, and enjoy a drink or some good grub. In Histon, near Cambridge, is the King Bill IV pub.
Inside this homely pub, which dates back to the 17th century, is a roaring fire. If you’re after a drink or traditional pub food to munch on, you can also warm up at the same time with the pub’s fire.
On the pub website, the owners said The King Bill is a “family-run” pub in the “beautiful village of Histon”. It added: “We offer a friendly place to come and have a drink either alone or with friends. We offer a good selection of ales, lagers, wines and spirits and have an ever changing gin bar.”
Another draw for the pub is its regular food trucks. Most Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, food is served up by different food trucks outside the pub.
In February, the pub will welcome various different food vendors on different days. These are: Rotosseroll on February 6; Pizza Mondo on February 7; Steak and Honour on February 11; Pimp My Fish on February 13; Buffalo Joe’s on February 20 and Steak and Honour on February 27.
The pub itself is set within the beautiful setting of Histon. The village was named as one of the best places to live in Cambridgeshire by Muddy Stilettos in 2025.
It was also named as one of the happiest places to live. Last year, Muddy Stilettos said the village had “grown in popularity and size” over the years.
As well as the pub, the village was praised for its historic butchers Histon Chop Shop, and Bakers Bakery, which has been an important part of village life since the 1950s.
