The Red Arrows RAF team flyby over York city centre
The Red Arrows appeared underneath the clouds and appeared to delight pedestrians in the city centre, people working in the suburbs and further out.
The display team of six Hawk fast-jets even appeared to give a “trailing smoke” salute as they passed, before turning off in the direction of the Lake District.
The RAF aerobatic team was scheduled for a formation transit between 5.26pm and 6.30pm and were seen by York Press readers and visitors to our Facebook page in Acomb, Upper Poppleton and Walmgate, briefly from about 5.30pm.
It has been reported elsewhere that a Red Arrow flypast was scheduled on the route of premier men’s cycling event The Tour of Britain as a stage took place today close to the unit’s base at RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire.
The Red Arrows will head up the 2026 International Ayr Show Festival of Flight in South Ayrshire tomorrow and Saturday.
