A popular theme park its set to close one of its busiest attractions.
The Silver Dollar City theme park in the Ozark Mountains of southwestern Missouri has announced that the Thunderation roller coaster will close in January 2027.
The theme park first opened to visitors in 1966, between the towns of Branson and Branson West.
Since then the amusement park has expanded to more than 40 rides and seven roller coasters.
The Thunderation roller coaster was added to the park in 1993, taking visitors through what looks like a mine from the 1880s.
It reached a huge 80 feet and travels at 48 miles per hour.
It has become one of the most popular rides at the theme park.
The last day to take a ride on the coaster will be January 2, 2027.
Silver Dollar City are teasing new attractions as part of the development however there has not been a formal announcement explaining the reasonings behind the ride closing.
As the ride is set to shut a range of commemorative memorabilia including T-shirts, hats, and mugs have been made available for those who want to remember the roller coaster.
The news comes as other popular theme parks in the US are closing.
Fun Spot America in Atlanta, Georgia, originally opened as Dixieland Fun Park in 1990 and will open its gates for the final time on August 2.
