Three people taken to hospital after two-car crash in West Belfast

Footage shared on social media showed two badly damaged cars with members of the public attempting to assist those inside.

Three people were taken to hospital after a serious two-car crash in West Belfast on Sunday evening.

Police are appealing for information and witnesses following the collision in the Monagh By-Pass area.

A report was received at approximately 7.15pm on Sunday evening, September 13 of a collision involving a blue Volkswagen Golf and a silver Ford Kuga.

Officers attended the scene alongside colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.

Footage shared on social media showed two badly damaged cars with members of the public attempting to assist those inside. Debris was scattered right across the four lanes and smoke was visible from one of the vehicles.

Both drivers and a passenger were taken to hospital for treatment to their injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening at this time. The road, which had been closed due to the collision, fully reopened at approximately 10pm.

A PSNI spokesperson said on Monday morning: “Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information including dash-cam or other video footage of what happened, is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 1308 of 13/09/26.

“A report can also be made using the online reporting form via https://reporting.psni.police.uk/appeals.”
