Three thieves arrested after theft from Boots in Ripon

Man arrested after £4k worth of Class A drugs found in Goole

North Yorkshire Police arrested the trio on the A1, close to Junction 47, at approximately 4pm on Wednesday (January 28).

It came after two men were reported stealing fragrances from Boots in Market Square West in Ripon at 3.40pm.

Within minutes, CCTV operators had located the pair matching the description, who were seen running across the road and getting into a vehicle.

Specialist units were subsequently deployed to the motorway network and successfully managed to stop the vehicle, mid-escape, on the southbound carriageway of the A1.

A 15-year-old boy, an 18-year-old man and a 24-year-old man have been arrested and being transported to custody, police said.

A force spokesperson said: “This quick response shows our commitment to tackling retail crime, disrupting offenders and protecting local businesses.

“Retail crime remains a key priority for North Yorkshire Police, and we will do all we can to ensure those who cause harm to the retail sector are identified, stopped and held fully accountable for their actions.”
