Coral Kincsem Heritage Handicap (13.50, Goodwood)

Let’s start at the very beginning and take a look at this top class handicap that carries £120,000 in prize money.

As you’d expect for a three-year-old race like this, there are plenty of unexposed runners, including Decade Of Time, Dark Whisper and Savvy Disko, while you certainly couldn’t rule out other potential improvers on the day.

However, I do like the look of CIARRAI ABU, who is really beginning to shape up this season. He resumed with a win here (1m, good) in maiden company in May, returned an improved effort on his handicap debut when back here next time, finishing a close fourth and made ground in eyecatching fashion, despite hanging, when scoring at Ascot (1m, good to firm) last time.

There may still be more to come over 1m but connections are pressing the button on a step up in trip and I think that the way he came home at a stiffer track like Ascot, plus the obvious stamina in his pedigree, he’ll possibly find even more now tried over this far and it’s worth a value shout on horse racing betting sites.

Goodwood day three racing tip 1: Ciarrai Abu (Goodwood, 13.50) – 1pt each-way @ 5/1 (Bet365)

You’ll recall that I was sweet on the chances of ENCELADUS at Royal Ascot and Joseph O’Brien’s colt did not disappoint. I was standing down near the three furlong pole that day so got a great close up as they turned for him and he was beginning to make his move under Ryan Moore.

He’d shown a really likeable attitude when scoring on his reappearance at Cork (1m2½f, good to yielding) in April and he did the job well when we sided with him last month (1m4f, good to firm).

He’s a Sea The Stars colt and one who looks to have a fair bit more to come, so this step up in grade looks very interesting. I’m a big fan of the J P O’Brien-Dylan Browne McGonagle combination and, having decided to go up in grade with him, I’d be very surprised if the trainer has made a rick.

True, there are several others with claims and who, on paper, may have slightly stronger form but they may not be improving at as fast a rate as my selection and I am happy to side with him again.

Goodwood day three racing tip 2: Enceladus (Goodwood, 15.00) – 1pt win @ 5/2 (William Hill)

Buccellati Handicap (16.10, Goodwood)

A very competitive contest where recent history strongly suggests that a single figure draw is beneficial, with only one of the last ten successful horses coming from a higher draw than that.

That is not positive for the otherwise very solid Shes Got A Brother, who represents Mick and David Easterby. Draw aside, she’s got a good chance again and has some good form to bring back into this sphere, albeit after a 5lb rise.

Schrodinger’s Cat, Naana’s Shadow and Noble Vow are all much respected in siding with MISS YECHANCE. She won a Catterick novice event last year and has added a Meydan handicap since. She was far from disgraced at Royal Ascot last time out, when she also raced without one of her shoes, so there are reasons to believe that she could do better.

Added to that is that she’s been in the care of Karl Burke for just that one most recent start and he’s now had time to get to know her better and eke out some more. She looks a big each-way player on betting apps from stall six and may improve enough to win.

Goodwood day three racing tip 3: Miss Yechance (Goodwood, 16.10) – 1pt each-way @ 17/2 (Bet365)

Whispering Angel Nursery Handicap (Class 2) (15.45, Goodwood)

A competitive nursery sees 18 go to post, Shadow King heading the market under a penalty after scoring on his debut in this sphere at Doncaster last time. Wise And Wonderful represents Andrew Balding and has been showing improvement for each start, also winning last time out in an Epsom maiden.

You’d think there’d be more to come from her while The Bookkeeper has Ryan Moore up and he’s been the subject of numerous tips going into the race after finishing a decent fourth in the Woodcote at Epsom’s Derby meeting.

The Ginger Kid has a good pitch in stall three and enters calculations along with Cicilian and MIA FANTASIA. Oisin Murphy rides the selection for Hugo Palmer and although the pair don’t combine on a major basis, their union can quite often prove to be a fruitful one.

This colt makes his nursery debut after scoring on debut at Carlisle (7f, good to firm) and also running a good race to be third at Ascot last time, in a race won by Dr Rascal, who won the Vintage Stakes here on Tuesday. I think an initial mark of 79 looks more than fair.

His draw is perhaps the one serious cause for concern, as it won’t be easy from stall 13 but they’re having a go and if anyone can get him off to a good start it’s this pilot. I think the draw is factored into his double figure price and he looks worth an each-way play.

Goodwood day three racing tip 4: Mia Fantasia (Goodwood, 16.45) – 1pt each-way @ 8/1 (Unibet)
