Tom Cruise’s Daughter Has Dropped Her Dad’s Surname
Suri, the 20-year-old daughter of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise, has changed her last name.
The student, who is believed to be estranged from her father, has legally changed her surname to Noelle – her mum’s middle name – according to Pennsylvania voting records.
Suri currently attends Carnegie Mellon University in the state.
In 2024, it was reported that the graduation pamphlet for her school, LaGuardia High School in Manhattan, listed her as Suri Noelle.
But it wasn’t clear at the time whether the name change was official or not.
During that same graduation, Tom was notably absent and had been spotted at a Taylor Swift concert in London the day after.
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes welcomed Suri in 2006 – the same year they got married.
In 2012, they divorced; Tom has reportedly been estranged from his daughter ever since. They haven’t had any public appearances together since that time.
In 2024, Katie Holmes took to Instagram to dispel rumours that her ex-husband had set up a million-dollar trust fund for their daughter. At the time, the actor wrote: “Completely false”, adding “enough”.
During an interview with Town & Country in 2017, Katie said: “My child is the most important person to me, and her upbringing is paramount to my work right now.”
And in 2024, she told the publication: “Of course, I will miss the close proximity [when Suri went to college], but I’m really proud of her and I’m happy.
“I remember being this age, this time of beginnings. It’s exciting to learn about yourself, and I loved that time, so it makes me happy to think about it like that.”
