Trains cancelled following “tragic incident” on the Newry line

Bus substitutions have been put in place

A number of trains have been cancelled after what Translink are calling a “tragic incident” on the line between Newry and Portadown.

The 6:50am Dublin Connolly to Belfast Grand Central Station due 08:58 was terminated at Dundalk and will no longer call at Newry, Portadown and Belfast Grand Central Station.

Posting on social media, Translink said: “Due to a tragic incident, the line between Newry and Portadown is closed.

“Bus substitutions will operate from Belfast to Newry and from Portadown to Newry.”

In an update on their website, Translink said: “Due to operational reasons between Newry and Portadown, the line is closed. Train services through these stations may be subject to disruption on all routes. Disruption is expected until further notice.”
