Prior to the vehicle stop, officers from the Atherton Neighbourhood Team had already secured a warrant for an address on Spring Gardens, Atherton linked to the suspects.

A search of the property was carried out shortly afterwards, where police uncovered further suspected drugs, along with paraphernalia linked to supply.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “Officers are also working closely with Wigan Council’s Community Resilience Team to ensure appropriate tenancy‑related enforcement is considered alongside the criminal investigation.

“Both individuals remain in police custody, and a charging decision will be made once enquiries are complete.”
