A man was left seriously injured with head injuries following an assault on Three Tuns Lane

A man was left with serious injuries following an assault last night, as detectives are now “piecing together” the events that unfolded. The police were alerted to the incident on Three Tuns Lane in Formby Village at approximately 11.20pm yesterday, March 7, following reports of an assault near the Wall of Fame bar.

Merseyside Police issued a statement revealing that a man in his 30s was discovered with injuries to his head and body. He was subsequently rushed to hospital for evaluation and is currently in a serious but stable condition.

Another man, also in his 30s, was found with minor injuries and has since been released from hospital.

Investigations are still underway, with a substantial cordon in place, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Detective Inspector Sarah Wilkinson stated: “We are still piecing together exactly what happened and why. At this early stage, I’d urge any witnesses who have not yet come forward to do so as soon as possible.

“We are determined to do all we can to find those responsible. If you saw anything, know anything, or were passing by at the time, pass on any CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage as this may provide vital evidence.”

A representative for Wall of Fame was quick to disassociate the bar from the incident in a statement posted on its Facebook page.

They clarified: “The incident which has been circulating on socials that happened on the road outside our bar yesterday has nothing to do with us.

“It happened elsewhere within the village and unfortunately the dispute ended on the road outside our bar. We had a private party on and then we stayed open as normal and will be open again today.”
