Update after Royal Bolton Hospital young person incident

The incident took place around 2pm this afternoon (August 22) at Royal Bolton Hospital, where what police have called a “vulnerable young person” got onto the hospital roof.

Police and fire services were called to the scene for assistance, with the situation being successfully resolved by around 3pm.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “There were welfare concerns relating to a vulnerable young person.

“The log was closed at about 3pm. No crimes have been recorded.”

Some people had to wait outside the hospital as the situation was resolved, unable to enter the building.

A video shared to social media showed several police vans and fire engines outside the building, near the entrance to the paediatric emergency department.
