Visit a stunning Augill Castle in the beautiful Eden Valley, Cumbria
Augill Castle, located in Eden Valley, is inviting guests to experience a slower pace of summer by exploring quieter countryside between the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, and North Pennines.
The castle, which is around 60 minutes away from Lancaster, encourages visitors to take time exploring woodland trails and hidden valleys.
Wendy Bennett, owner of Augill Castle, said: “People often tell us they’re looking for somewhere the whole family can genuinely enjoy together.

“Grandparents want somewhere comfortable and welcoming, parents want to switch off, children want space to explore, and everyone wants to avoid spending their holiday stuck in traffic or queuing for the same photo.
“We love helping guests discover the quieter side of Cumbria and showing them that some of the best days out are often the ones people haven’t heard about yet.”
Children can explore the gardens, play games and enjoy the freedom of wide-open spaces, while parents unwind with a drink on the terrace and grandparents settle in with a good book.
The castle was named Family Hotel of the Year at the Good Hotel Guide César Awards and the title of best family hotel in the north of England in The Sunday Times’ Ultimate 100 British Hotels.

Augill Castle describes itself as “a home first and a hotel second,” aiming to make guests feel like house guests rather than customers.
Guests can enjoy quieter walks through the Eden Valley, peaceful corners of the Yorkshire Dales, and lesser-known routes in the North Pennines, before winding down with a drink in the garden.
The castle is an hour from Lancaster.
It offers a countryside escape that’s close enough for a spontaneous break, but removed from everyday life.
A spokesperson said: “Nestled in the heart of the Eden Valley, Augill Castle is perfectly placed between the Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District and the North Pennines, giving guests easy access to spectacular countryside without the queues, packed car parks and overcrowded walking routes that have become synonymous with peak summer.”
“Whether you’re planning a multi-generational getaway, a walking holiday or simply looking for somewhere the whole family can reconnect this summer, Augill Castle is proving that Britain’s best holidays don’t always happen in the busiest places.”
