A “significant” sinkhole risk beneath the car park of a Rhymney business has sparked fears for the future of two local employers.

The failing culvert carrying the “entirety” of the River Rhymney could cost up to £4 million to repair, leaving the landowner – a local business – facing a bill it says it cannot afford.

Another business has stopped using its car park over fears the ground above the culvert could collapse.

The issue has left the two neighbouring employers caught in the middle of a dispute over the hidden piece of infrastructure beneath their sites.
