What’s happened to Zoe Sugg and Alfie Deyes? Six months after couple vanished, CODIE BULLEN reveals what they’re up to… and new ‘slap in the face’ for fans

Published

on

Zoe Sugg and Alfie Deyes, the YouTube power couple known for sharing every aspect of their lives, have vanished almost entirely from social media

They’re the YouTube power couple known for sharing every aspect of their lives, but for the past six months, Zoe Sugg, aka Zoella, and Alfie Deyes have vanished almost entirely from social media.

They disappeared without a warning: no goodbye, no statement explaining their disappearance.

Yet fans maintained hope, pointing to Alfie’s sporadic Instagram posts as proof that the couple, who soared to fame as ‘vloggers’ in 2012, would return to their regularly scheduled programming.

However, signs are emerging that this may never happen.

I can reveal that Alfie, who has always shared his love for photography and filming, has even started selling his camera equipment on Vinted.

In recent days, the 32-year-old has uploaded Canon camera lenses to the second-hand marketplace. One was originally listed for £600 but the price has already been dropped to £550. It retails for £2,000 on the Canon website.

Another lens, the EF 70-200mm F/2.8 IS II USM, has been listed for £750. A third camera lens, a Samyang fisheye, which retails at around £275, is listed for £130 and was uploaded by Alfie four months ago.

His Vinted account now has more than 5,000 followers and has 154 positive reviews.

Elsewhere, Zoe, 36, has been posting life updates to her private Instagram account, which only her close friends are allowed to follow – including her best friends and fellow influencers Mark Ferris and Jim Chapman.

While it is unknown what specific content she has shared on the page, @tigerlilyneverland, it seems she is not having a total social media detox, as some originally thought.

Many of Zoe’s loyal fans now say that the news of her private social media activity has come as a ‘slap in the face’.

‘What a slap in the face to all the loyal fans who have supported her for over a decade and who have bought the products she has released, liked the videos she has made, helped drive her engagement and thus increase her earnings via YouTube and Instagram for years,’ one wrote online.

‘She is more than entitled to step away, but when she decided to share her life online, build a community, and profit off that community, she does, in fact, owe them a brief explanation, or a few words. It’s just rude now.’

Over the past six months, I have contacted Zoe and Alfie’s manager, Maddie Chester, on several occasions to get answers for fans and to make sure the couple is well. Maddie has been with them for more than 12 years and has helped their careers flourish.

I have never received a response. In fact, there has been radio silence from the ‘Zalfie’ camp.

That hasn’t stopped the couple from continuing to profit from their business ventures, clothing line Future Self and journal brand Dear Sunday.

The products are still available to buy, and Alfie returned to social media with a one-off post on Zoe’s birthday in March with a discount code.

Alongside a picture of her three-tier cake, Alfie wrote: ‘To celebrate Zoe’s 36th Birthday, we’ve just put 36% off the entire DearSunday website!’

Again, fans were left disappointed that the couple are still trying to cash in on their followers despite not giving anything back.

Ahead of their disappearance from social media, the couple had been gradually reducing their online output, while becoming increasingly protective of their lives.

Some have speculated that Zoe’s disappearance is linked to her children.

Her eldest started school last September, and the couple have spoken openly about limiting her online exposure to protect her privacy now that she’s of school age.

Others were concerned that different issues were behind the couple’s absence. But there have since been sightings that suggest things are well.

Zoella fans have posted about bumping into Zoe and Alfie in their hometown of Brighton.

‘I saw her and the girls at our village fete last weekend. She looked happy, enjoying normal family life,’ one wrote online.

Zoe and Alfie were also pictured on an outing with Zoe’s brother and Strictly Come Dancing star Joe and his partner Dianne Buswell – whom he met on the ballroom competition – shortly after the arrival of their baby boy, Bowden, in March.

Elsewhere, behind the scenes, the couple have become embroiled in a bitter countryside row after creating a new home for two donkeys behind their £2million Sussex mansion without planning permission.

They have rankled some of their well-heeled neighbours after three shepherd’s huts, fencing and gates were installed on a five-acre agricultural plot in the affluent village of Hassocks.

Work on the project – which includes a stable built for Zoe’s adopted animals and new access points to the field – started without planning permission being sought from the local council.

Objectors have now accused the social media star of failing to consult them over her plans and claim the development is harming the ‘character and charm of the area’.

Details of the dispute emerged in a belated planning application now submitted to Mid Sussex District Council by Zoe and Alfie.

It’s all a long way from the early days of Zoe’s career. She initially found an audience through blogging before turning to YouTube, where her videos documenting beauty products, shopping trips, house moves, and her personal life attracted millions of viewers.

At the peak of her online fame, she was one of the country’s most recognisable influencers and transformed her following into a multimillion-pound business empire.

She began dating Alfie in 2012 after he found success through his own YouTube channel, PointlessBlog.

The pair soon became one of the best-known couples to emerge from Britain’s ‘vlogging’ boom, building a combined following of more than 20million subscribers. They got engaged in September 2023 after more than a decade together and have two daughters, Ottilie and Novie.

For years, fans followed almost every major stage of their relationship, including their house moves, pregnancies, and family celebrations.

As someone who has followed Zalfie since those early days, I’d love to see the couple return to vlogging. However, I fear they have lost their passion for it.

And, besides, they would have a lot of making up to do with their followers.

Sheena McLure, died on December 29 2023 following the incident at the Kilchoan Estate, near Melfort, Argyll and Bute.

The 51-year-old, from Oban, was a housekeeper on the estate and previously worked for the Consul General of Japan in Edinburgh.

A Fatal Accident Inquiry (FAI) is set to be held to examine the circumstances of Sheena’s death and a preliminary hearing will take place at Oban Sheriff Court on Thursday, September 3.

It is expected that the inquiry will focus on the risk assessments and controls relating to the use of unroadworthy off-road vehicles on the estate.

The purpose of an FAI includes determining the cause of death; the circumstances in which the death occurred, and to establish what, if any, reasonable precautions could have been taken, and could be implemented in the future, to minimise the risk of future deaths in similar circumstances.

Unlike criminal proceedings, FAIs are inquisitorial in nature, and are used to establish facts rather than to apportion blame.

The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) has lodged a First Notice to begin the court process for the inquiry.

Debbie Carroll from the COPFS, said: “The death of Sheena McLure occurred while in the course of her employment and as such a Fatal Accident Inquiry is mandatory.

“The lodging of the First Notice enables FAI proceedings to commence under the direction of the Sheriff.

“Ms McLure’s family will continue to be kept informed of significant developments as court proceedings progress.”

Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi reveals who he wants to become the next Time Lord

EXCLUSIVE: Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi has revealed who he wants to become the next Doctor as he opens up whether the show is set to come back

Former Time Lord Peter Capaldi says the next Doctor Who should be a complete unknown.

The sci-fi series faces an uncertain future after the Christmas special was axed for the second year in a row, while screenwriter and TV producer Russell T Davies announced his departure in June.

Capaldi, 68, who played the Doctor from 2013 to 2017 said there’s no doubt that that the show will return but bosses need to rethink their plan for the next leading star.

Peter revealed he’d love to see an unknown actor step into the role: “I think it would be lovely. I’d like to see someone who nobody knew, rather than us all plucking names on people that we’ve seen. I’d like to see something that’s a totally unknown quantity.”

The role is vacant after Ncuti Gatwa, the fifteenth doctor, who appeared in the series from 2023 until 2025, quit. Viewers saw Gatwa’s Doctor regenerate into Billie Piper, who previously played companion Rose Tyler to Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant’s incarnations of The Doctor in the last episode.

However, since the Christmas special has been cancelled it’s unclear if Billie is set to play the next doctor, or if this was a red herring for fans, so the future of the series is very much up in the air.

When asked if there were any names he could think of who would impress in the role, he admitted there were “lots of names” but it would be “inappropriate” for him to throw any into the mix publicly.

With the announcement that the Christmas special would not go ahead, Russell T Davies also announced his decision to leave Doctor Who once again. “And so GOODBYE from me to Doctor Who but HELLO to a big new future for the show, as the BBC announces it’s putting the show out to tender,” he said at the time.

This led to speculation that Doctor Who would be cancelled entirely, this rumour Peter was happy to shut down.

“Oh, I think it’s coming back.. It is happening, and I look forward to seeing it,” he confirmed to the Mirror.

Revealing the perks of being the Doctor, Peter said: “I mean, it’s just an amazing job. You get to go into work every day and blow up dogs or flying tires, and also when kids meet you when you’re in the heat of it and you’re in the middle of being Doctor Who, they’re meeting Doctor Who, and that is an extraordinary privilege to be on the other side of that. Their eyes widen and they look at you as if as if you’re Santa Claus or something, and it’s incredible.”

In recent years the actor, who broke out in BBC political comedy The Thick of It, has ventured into other areas including music and even performed at Glastonbury Festival in 2025,

He joined fellow Scots Franz Ferdinand on stage to sing their smash hit Take Me Out. He revealed this was the first time he’d ever attended Glastonbury and still feels like a ‘dream’.

“Every time I think about it, it’s like a dream really. I’m not really sure this really happened to have it in my head. It’s just my current dream. Cold breeze on the stage. Everything was harsh and quite a setting. I mean I was really quite frightened because I never. I’ve been to Glastonbury before.”

He described his music as a passion project: ” Well, it’s really something that I’m doing for fun. It’s not about trying to get into the charts or change my career.”

For that reason he can stay detached, without concerns about chart performance: “It doesn’t matter what happens to my music. You know what? If people like it, that’s fine. If they don’t like it, that’s fine. Also, because I’m not doing it in order to claw my way into using industry, I’m doing it because I love this.”

Police arrest man for threatening to shoot Nigel Farage after former MP Ann Widdecombe was killed in ‘targeted attack’

Published

Police have arrested a man for threatening to shoot and kill Reform UK leader Nigel Farage

Police have arrested a man for threatening to shoot and kill Nigel Farage.

The man was arrested on Tuesday in London after a post on X warned the Reform UK leader: ‘I am going to shoot you in the head if you win.’

The suspect is understood to have described himself as a terrorist on social media.

The arrest for the threat on Mr Farage’s life came just days after former MP and Reform spokeswoman Ann Widdecombe was killed in a ‘targeted attack’.

He revealed yesterday that he gets 30 death threats a week. Reform UK said it has recorded 1,577 threats against Mr Farage since February, including 597 death threats.

The figures include multiple threats from a number of individuals whom the party believes are ‘fixated’ with the idea of killing him.

The post on X was made on May 8 on the day of the local elections, but the suspect was only arrested yesterday – almost two months later and six days after Miss Widdecombe was found dead in the kitchen of her remote Dartmoor bungalow.

According to The Telegraph, his profile shows a picture of a British Asian man.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police told Mr Farage this morning a male had been arrested on suspicion of sending a threatening communication.

He has since been released on bail.

The arrest for the threat on Mr Farage’s life came just days after former MP and Reform spokeswoman Ann Widdecombe was killed in a ‘targeted attack’

Mr Farage told The Telegraph: ‘This is the first time the police have ever proactively acted on a social media post, and I hope they are looking at the other three or four hundred similar posts from this year alone.’

The post was reported to Scotland Yard’s parliamentary liaison and investigations team by the Parliament’s security information and risk analysis service, according to the newspaper.

Reform has compiled a dossier of hundreds of threatening messages received by Mr Farage, many of them posted on X.

They include 597 death threats – equal to an average of four a day or almost 30 a week.

One, posted on June 23, stated: ‘Execute the stinking traitor Nigel Farage. TODAY.’

Another, sent two days later by a persistent individual, said: ‘Get the f*** out of Wales before I just kill Nigel Farage… you can die at any f***ing moment.’

A third sent on July 2 accompanied by an image of a noose, said: ‘In 1916, traitors like you would have ended your days early in the Tower of London.’

One message, sent from a suspected neo-Nazi account, said Mr Farage would ‘get executed’ as a ‘race traitor’.

This morning, Reform UK’s home affairs spokesman Zia Yusuf called for the budget for MPs’ safety to be increased to £100m, with a bodyguard for every one of them.

Last year, Afghan migrant Fayaz Khan, who has a tattoo of an AK-47 on his left cheek, was jailed for five years for making a threat to kill Mr Farage.

The Reform leader claimed today that he was initially told by Keir Starmer that Miss Widdecombe died during a ‘burglary gone wrong’.

He said he was also told the same by the chief constable of Devon and Cornwall Police James Vaughan in the aftermath of her body being discovered last week.

On Monday it was revealed that counter-terrorism police are now leading the investigation into her death at her Dartmoor bungalow, and have arrested a 28-year-old man.

Mr Farage and other Reform figures have used the killing to put the spotlight on the threat to their safety.

Speaking to Talk TV today, Mr Farage said: ‘I spoke to the chief constable of Devon and Cornwall police three times. I spoke to the prime minister as well and those calls took place over Friday and Saturday and they both told me it’s a burglary that’s gone wrong.

‘I said, no, it is not. A burglar does not park his car on your drive and walk into the house.  A burglar parks in a lay-by down the road or has a getaway driver.

‘And I went to Dartmoor on Saturday and I said, I have no doubt this is a premeditated murder. I received tons of abuse for saying it but sadly it’s proved that I’m right. It was obvious.’

Later, he insisted to The Sun he was not trying to ‘point the finger’ at the PM, saying it had been a very ‘courteous’ conversation.

Two asylum seekers who repeatedly raped a woman on Brighton beach and a third who filmed the ‘predatory and callous attack’ have been jailed for more than 60 years.

Ibrahim Alshafe, 26, Abdulla Ahmadi, 26, and Karin Al-Danasurt, 21, targeted the woman after spotting her ‘staggering in the street’ in the early hours of October 4.

Alshafe and Ahmadi took the ‘incapacitated’ woman behind a beach hut in the seaside city where they raped her while Al-Danasurt filmed the ordeal.

She later recalled being laughed at, spat on, kicked and her throat being grabbed during the attack.

At Wednesday’s sentencing hearing, the woman read a victim impact statement to the court, saying: ‘They destroyed my life that night, they took something from me nobody had the right to do so.

‘They violated me in every way.’

Sentencing the men, Judge Christine Henson KC said: ‘Each of you participated in an entirely predatory and callous attack on a female separated from her friends after what had been a fun night out for her.

‘You each treated her with contempt, and you each played a role in degrading her in the most appalling way.’

Egyptian national Alshafe and Iranian national Ahmadi were jailed for 21 years each, while Egyptian national Al-Danasurt was sentenced to 18 years and six months.

POSITIVE ID - SEEN IN THE COURT DOCK KARIN AL-DANASURT Three men have been charged with raping a woman on Brighton beach, Sussex Police has said. Police were called to the Lower Esplanade at about 05:00 BST on 4 October after reports that a woman in her 30s had been attacked. Sussex Police said Abdulla Ahmadi, 25, an Iranian from Crewe, Karin Al-Danasurt, 20, and Ibrahim Alshafe, 25, both Egyptians from Horsham, have been arrested and each charged with two counts of rape. The force added the three men had been remanded in custody and were due to appear at Brighton Magistrates' Court on Thursday. Police said the woman continued to be supported by specialist officers. Det Sup Andy Harbour said: "I understand how distressing this incident will be for the community and our dedicated partnership operations to protect women and girls will continue in earnest."

Prosecutor Hanna Llewellyn-Waters KC described the men as ‘devoid of humanity’ and their treatment of the woman was ‘entirely predatory, callous and contemptuous’.

She described the impact on the woman as ‘extreme’.

In her victim impact statement, the woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, added: ‘They took something from me that night I’m afraid I will never get back. To not take accountability for their actions (is) like sticking a knife in and twisting it again.’

She told the court when she closes her eyes she sees the man filming it and them all ‘laughing at me’.

‘My skin crawls. No matter how hard I scrub it, I still feel dirty,’ she added.

Alshafe and Ahmadi were found guilty of two counts of rape by jurors, while Al-Danasurt was found guilty of four counts of rape as a secondary party by encouraging and filming the attack.

The three defendants knew each other were living at Home Office-approved hotel accommodation for asylum seekers in Lower Beeding, near Horsham, West Sussex.

Ahmadi and Alshafe met on a small boat from France arriving in the UK on June 19, 2025, while Alshafe and Al-Danasurt, who arrived in the UK on October 11, 2024, were roommates at the hotel.

The three got ready at the hotel before getting a bus into Brighton on the night of October 3.

A Snapchat video shows them in front of a mirror at around 7.30pm at the hotel, with Ahmadi sorting a durag – a close-fitting cloth tied around the top of the head – on Al-Danasurt, who gestures to the camera and smiles, while being filmed by Alshafe.

During the night out, the friends went to a bar and nightclub on the beach where Alshafe chatted to a woman using Google Translate about his hopes to marry a woman and have children and get citizenship in the UK.

The prosecution suggested he had been a ‘nasty little predator’ that night who had been rejected by several women and was ‘on the prowl’ with the co-defendants.

After the attack, the men returned to their hotel by bus and had a barbecue later that evening, around the time the woman was waiting to be medically examined.

During the trial, all three men gave evidence through translators to deny the crimes.

Ms Llewellyn-Waters said their accounts provided ‘clear and chilling insight into a wholly warped mindset’ and a ‘total lack of remorse’.

Alshafe and Ahmadi claimed the encounter was consensual and that the woman had approached them on the seafront, kissed and touched them both, said something about sex and took them both to the beach.

The court saw footage of the woman falling down while walking with Ahmadi and Alshafe on the seafront.

Al-Danasurt claimed to jurors that he had tried to stop the attack by filming it, which prosecutor Ms Llewellyn-Waters said was a ‘pack of lies’.

The videos shown to jurors showed Alshafe smiling and sticking his tongue out during the attack, as well as slapping the woman in the face.

Ministers have vowed to deport the men after they were sentenced.

On Wednesday the prosecution said the sentencing court should make its decision on the risk posed by the defendants ‘without regards to possibility that one day a defendant may be deported’.

Love Island’s Ellie’s real reason for quitting as FIVE stars go with her

Daily Mirror

Ellie Chadwick has reportedly walked out of the Love Island villa just days before the final but she is just one of five stars said to be leaving the villa in a mass cull

Love Island fans are heartbroken as favourite Ellie Chadwick has quit the villa, with some saying “there goes my reason for watching the show” – but why did she leave?

Ellie is said to have walked out of Love Island last night (14 July), in dramatic scenes that will air soon. Her exit is said to have come as “a shock” to the Islanders, despite the fact that Ellie has threatened to leave a few times.

But, her statements have mostly come amid yet another love triangle that the Scot found herself in, as her partner Finley Maddock had his head turned by Elicia Bailey. Following last night’s recoupling, the two seem back on track and were seen cuddling in bed, causing many fans to wonder what could have happened to make Ellie finally decide to leave.

Shortly after the news was announced, the Sun added that Ellie’s exit comes alongside that of four other islanders. As such, in a mass exodus, five stars are set to leave the show – with the other four’s dumping coming as a result of a public vote.

Taking to Reddit, some fans suggested the public vote will also be the reason Ellie leaves the show. At the end of Tuesday’s episode, viewers were given the opportunity to vote for their favourite boy and favourite girl, and some have suggested that the results put Ellie in a tough spot.

“I reckon Finley was voted least favourite and dumped so she followed,” one wrote. Others added that this “makes sense” and that Ellie probably felt there was “no point in staying” if Fin was gone.

Some were upset by the suggestion, with one fan noting that this was quite a turnaround from when she wanted to leave because he would be with someone else. They said: “Imagine she went from leaving because he’s acting the rat to leaving with him because he’s voted off.”

But others pointed out that it was unlikely Ellie would meet someone else in the week that remains on the show: “There’s only a week or two left, I really doubt there will be someone that could come in for Ellie that she could form a connection with. Especially with the journey she has had, I can see why she decided to just leave with him.”

Though it may seem too soon for the results of the vote to have been revealed to the Islanders, ITV do sometimes have time to film a dumping the same night as the vote. This is because they often wait until nightfall for the dramatic scenes, which can cause filming to start well into the night. With the vote closing at 10:30pm, it was likely early enough to continue filming.

Some fans suggested that Fin wouldn’t be in the bottom three, as he appeared to be doing alright in fan polls. “I can’t see Finley being bottom 3 though? He was doing ok in the polls I saw,” wrote one.

Another agreed: “Yeah I assumed Jordan would have got the least votes as he’s always been lowest on polls and gives nothing to the show. Unless his sisters fans have voted him up.” This was referring to Casa Amor boy Jordan Wilson, whose sister Tianna has 11million subscribers on YouTube.

Others suggested that even if Fin did not get dumped, the vote might still be the reason that Ellie leaves. Public votes have often been used not just to suss out who might be the least liked and put them at risk of being dumped, but to find the favourites and get them to pick who will go home.

Most recently, this happened when Julia Majchrzak and Lorenzo Alessi were voted the favourite couple and had to pick another couple to send home. As Ellie has been voted favourite girl before, she may be put in that position.

One fan thought this could be it, saying: “Hear me out, because this might be a little bit crazy, but what if she gets favourite girl and is told she can get rid any islander for any reason and decides to walk rather than pick someone?”

According to The Sun, who broke the news that Ellie was leaving, “viewers will see the dramatic action play out in an episode soon”. The publication quoted a source who said: “Viewers have seen Ellie threatening to leave across recent episodes, so the news of her now quitting won’t feel like a surprise. But in real time, her and Fin reconnected at the recoupling a few days ago so her decision to now leave is a shock.”

Following their addition that four other Islanders would leave, fans became even more convinced that Ellie leaves to be with Fin on the outside. One said: “Four other islanders are leaving so it’s totally going to be because of Fin.

“The bottom three boys and the bottom three girls will up for eviction and the other islanders will have to choose to save one each, with the boys choosing to save someone other than Fin (probably Samraj), so Ellie will leave with him.”

REVEALED: Hampshire test centre with only a four-week wait is the joint-second quickest location to get a driving test in England

REVEALED: Hampshire test centre with only a four-week wait is the joint-second quickest location to get a driving test in England

Young drivers in Hampshire can count themselves lucky after learning that a test centre in the county provides one of the shortest waits to get a driving test across England.
In spite of tighter booking restrictions, a record 1.9 million tests taken last year, and an effort to recruit more driving examiners, the average driving test wait time in Britain is now almost 22 weeks.
The Government has banned third-party resellers from buying up slots and introducing rules that allow learners to only book a test in one of their three nearest test centres. And that’s great news for a chunk of future drivers in Hampshire who will be able to access the location with the smallest backlog.
The waiting time at Basingstoke is only four weeks making it the joint-second quickest location to get a driving test in England. The shortest wait to take a practical exam is in Hinckley, Leicestershire, where the delay is only two weeks.
The positive news was discovered by Adrian Flux, the UK’s largest specialist motor insurance broker. It first analysed wait times in October 2022 and has been keeping an eye on the topic ever since with their latest report painting a fairly miserable picture. The current wait across Britain is almost eight weeks higher than when the company first analysed the data almost four years ago.
Further analysis of the findings around delays in Hampshire showed that the four other test centres in the county – Lee On The Solent, Portsmouth, Southampton (Maybush) and Winchester – have the maximum wait time of 24 weeks.
Gerry Bucke, general manager of Adrian Flux, said: “The misery shows no signs of easing but at least there’s some serious respite if you live in and around Basingstoke and can choose it as one of your test centres.
“Drivers being made to wait are keeping sharp by learning to drive in their parents or grandparents cars and bolting on short-term insurance cover to their own policies. There’s ways around the problem and we’re here to help but it must be deeply frustrating. Getting on the road is a rite of passage and so many people are waiting longer than ever to be able to do that.”
The Government has already missed its first two targets for reducing backlogs to seven weeks. Hopes of meeting their deadline in December 2025 and then this summer have now been pushed back until autumn next year.
Transport secretary Heidi Alexander told MPs there are now almost 150 more examiners in the 12 months to May but conceded “demand is still very high” and there was still a lot of work to do.
The Adrian Flux average wait time in Britain has been calculated by finding the average mean value in order to take into account all values, including the extremes. The Government released data on this issue late last week, in which they have calculated the median wait time for each test centre, and will be updating this data on a monthly basis.
