  • Dragons’ Den stalwart Touker Suleyman has announced his departure from the BBC series after 11 years.
  • The 72-year-old entrepreneur shared on Instagram that he has “made the decision to step down from the show” after what he described as “ten extraordinary years as a Dragon”.
  • Suleyman said stepping back will give him “more time to mentor the entrepreneurs I have invested in, and to give back the 50 years of business experience I have accumulated”. He believes “great institutions must evolve, and it is time for new blood to take my seat in the Den”.
  • His final episodes will air later this year, marking the end of a decade-long tenure that began in 2015.
  • Fellow Dragons Sara Davies and Peter Jones paid tribute to their colleague, with Davies calling him “the most amazing dragon” and Jones praising his “incredible” contribution.
  • Viewers also expressed their admiration, with many saying the show won’t be the same without the retail mogul who quickly became a firm favourite with BBC audiences.
