Dragons’ Den stalwart Touker Suleyman has announced his departure from the BBC series after 11 years.
The 72-year-old entrepreneur shared on Instagram that he has “made the decision to step down from the show” after what he described as “ten extraordinary years as a Dragon”.
Suleyman said stepping back will give him “more time to mentor the entrepreneurs I have invested in, and to give back the 50 years of business experience I have accumulated”. He believes “great institutions must evolve, and it is time for new blood to take my seat in the Den”.
His final episodes will air later this year, marking the end of a decade-long tenure that began in 2015.
Fellow Dragons Sara Davies and Peter Jones paid tribute to their colleague, with Davies calling him “the most amazing dragon” and Jones praising his “incredible” contribution.
Viewers also expressed their admiration, with many saying the show won’t be the same without the retail mogul who quickly became a firm favourite with BBC audiences.
