Woman fell and badly injured leg near Little Lever

The woman, 69, fell on a woodland track running alongside the River Croal and sustained a ‘very painful’ lower leg injury. 

Bolton Mountain Rescue Team (MRT) were called to assist the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) at 3.34pm on Friday, July 31.

She was stabilised, given pain relief, and her leg was splinted.

Mountain Rescue Team members and an NWAS crew then carried her on a stretcher to an ambulance parked 650m away on Prestolee Road, by the River Irwell.

The team wished her a full recovery after her rescue.
