York pub The Saddle Inn in Fulford could be set for changes

An application lodged with City of York Council would see a pergola built in the back garden of Fulford’s The Saddle Inn, along with the installation of new lighting, seating, flooring and fencing.

The inside of the pub would also be redecorated and its kitchen and toilets would be upgraded if the plans are approved.

Pub operator Admiral Taverns’ application stated the works would boost the viability and improve the appearance of the well-established community facility.

Plans would see an outbuilding demolished behind the Main Street pub to make way for the pergola.

Festoon lighting and new timber seating would be installed along with a 2m-high fence around its car park which would also be extended.

Resin floor would be added to the seating area and existing paving stones made good, with new timber planters also included in the plans.

The redecoration of the inside of the pub’s would include new flooring, lighting and artworks.

Admiral Taverns’ application stated the works would be appropriate in the area which has designated conservation status.

Plans stated: “The Saddle Inn is an attractive two-storey public house in Main Street, Fulford.

“It is considered that the proposal will help with the vitality and viability of this well-established community facility, while enhancing the visual aesthetics of the Fulford Village Conservation Area.”
