A man aged in his 30s has died following a single vehicle tractor crash on Sunday afternoon

A young man has died following a single vehicle tractor crash in Co Cavan this afternoon.

Gardai and emergency services were called to the scene on a local road in Ardkill Beg in Carrickaboy shortly before 12.40pm.

The driver, a man aged in his 30s, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

His body has been removed to Cavan Monaghan General Hospital where a post mortem will take place.

The area was sealed off for a time for a forensic collision examination and has since reopened.

Gardai are now appealing for witnesses, as well as anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area between 9am and 12.40pm, to come forward.

A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardai are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision that occurred on a local road in Ardkill Beg, Carrickaboy, Co. Cavan on Sunday 3rd May 2026.

“Shortly before 12:40pm, Gardaí and emergency services responded to a single vehicle collision involving a tractor on a local road in Ardkill Beg, Carrickaboy, Co. Cavan.

“A male driver (aged in his 30s) was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body has since been removed to Cavan Monaghan General Hospital and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

“Garda Forensic Collision investigators attended the scene and an examination took place.

“Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward. Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage and were travelling in the area between 9:00am and 12:40pm are asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Cavan Garda Station on (049) 436 8800, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.

“Investigations are ongoing.”
