Gold may have taken the first round in 2026, but Bitcoin has not lost the fight just yet. A strong recovery is still likely, and when that happens, the entire narrative could flip faster than the market expects.

That’s the latest message from Tom Lee, Head of Research at Fundstrat and one of Wall Street’s most outspoken crypto bulls.

After the October tenth liquidation shock wiped out over two million accounts and shrank industry balance sheets, fear took over the market. Gold then surged almost twenty percent in two days, creating a six trillion dollar swing while the entire crypto market sits near two trillion. Many investors took that move as proof that Bitcoin failed its safe haven test. Tom Lee sees something far more explosive forming. He argues gold may have won one short term round, but Bitcoin has not lost 2026. If Bitcoin stages a recovery from here, the narrative flips instantly and the upside could accelerate fast.
