BREAKING: A federal judge just ruled Trump must hand over detailed financial records — his own lawsuit against the BBC backfired spectacularly

Magistrate Judge Enjoliqué Lett ruled Tuesday that Trump must turn over detailed financial information in the defamation suit HE filed. Her reasoning was simple: his own sweeping complaint put damage to his businesses front and center, which makes those businesses fair game. In her words, all of Trump’s brands, properties, and businesses were said to have been impugned, so reputational and economic damages are now at issue.

The result? The door is now open for the BBC to examine the finances of MORE THAN 400 COMPANIES owned by a Trump family trust.

And watch how hard his lawyers scrambled once they saw where this was headed. They tried to walk back his own claims mid-case, abandoning the assertion that the documentary hurt his businesses and diminished their value, insisting he’s now only pursuing damage to his reputation. His attorney said the case had “evolved” into “a far more narrow scope.”

The BBC’s lawyer demolished that: “He ran for president of the United States on a platform of the art of the deal. You cannot separate the man and his reputation from his operation of his businesses.”

The judge ruled she couldn’t simply erase the business-damage allegations from his complaint. You don’t get to unring that bell.

And it gets worse for him. The BBC is pushing for Trump to answer questions UNDER OATH. Their attorney told the court Trump’s team has ignored the request and is “dragging their feet” on scheduling his deposition. If this suit continues, he’s virtually certain to have to sit for one.

The judge also ruled that what Trump intended on January 6th, and how his supporters heard his words, remain directly at issue — because he claims in his own suit that he did nothing to foment the attack. As the BBC’s lawyer put it, he has to show he did not foment violence that day.

Here’s the lesson Trump keeps refusing to learn: lawsuits go both ways. He files these things to intimidate the press and grab headlines. But the moment you walk into court, the other side gets to ask questions too — about your money, your businesses, and what you meant on the day a mob stormed the Capitol.

He wanted a headline. He got discovery.
