Canada, China reach a ‘turning point’ in financial cooperation says Finance Minister
Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne says Canada has reached a “turning point” in its relationship with China, when it comes to cooperation in the financial sector. Champagne led a delegation of Canadian business leaders to Beijing this week, and the two countries have now signed a joint statement to deepen financial ties. While the financial sector was the focus, Champagne says that while on this trip, he told his Chinese counterparts that Canada wants to resolve trade irritants. But there’s still no sign China is willing to drop its tariffs on some key Canadian exports.
