Financial abuse?
What the video does not show you is the statistic behind it. Financial abuse occurs in 99% of domestic violence cases. Not some. Not most. 99%. And it is consistently cited by survivors as the primary reason they stayed with or returned to an abusive partner. Not because they wanted to. Because they had no financial ground to stand on. That was never an accident. It was the design.
Financial control is one of the most calculated tools in coercive abuse because it does not just trap someone in a relationship. It traps them in a life. It quietly removes every exit. It eliminates independence so completely that leaving feels more dangerous than staying. And by the time someone realizes what has happened the dependency is already so deep it feels like it was their own doing.
That is the genius of it. And the cruelty of it.
It was never about the paycheck.
It was always about the power.
