The UK’s inflation rate has risen again from 2.9% to 3.1%. It is higher now than France and Germany but lower than the US. Rising air fares and fuel prices have contributed with the average price of petrol going up by 9.1 pence per litre between July and August. The Chancellor John Healey has blamed the war in the Middle East but says the UK economy is proving resilient.
