Has Andy Burnham spooked the financial markets?
Andy Burnham said he was not going to “write the Budget” at the despatch box as he was pressed about tax rises at his first PMQs on Wednesday.
The prime minister refused to rule out any changes to taxes in his autumn budget and said that the date was set for October to avoid speculation and market reaction.
Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch questioned Burnham’s spending commitments following his summer of policy announcements.
