Singapore firms, households have sufficient buffers to weather financial shocks: MAS

In a stress test by the Monetary Authority of Singapore, about a third of Singapore-listed firms were found to be vulnerable to AI-related disruption. Those most at risk were highly leveraged and capital-intensive companies, as well as firms that rely on working capital financing. Besides geopolitical tensions and energy supplies, the report also highlighted another emerging risk — quantum computing. Still, the central bank says firms and households have sufficient buffers to weather shocks. MAS will soon release a guide to help financial institutions migrate to quantum-resilient solutions.
