The Saudi Nuclear Deal and Trump Family Financial Ties

A proposed 30-year agreement would allow American companies to help build Saudi Arabia’s civilian nuclear-energy program, a project potentially worth tens of billions of dollars.

The agreement does not explicitly prohibit Saudi Arabia from enriching uranium or reprocessing spent nuclear fuel. Those capabilities can support civilian nuclear power, but lawmakers and nonproliferation experts warn that they can also create pathways toward weapons development.

The Trump administration says the agreement contains the nonproliferation protections required by law.
