Anonymous Cabinet Minister wants Starmer gone

An anonymous Cabinet Minister has told centrist outlets, iPaper, that they think Starmer needs to go. As you’d expect with Labour, though, it seems like no one is quite sure what to do — and we’re going to be subjected to more dithering:

Nothing ever happens

Journalist Kitty Donaldson reported that there’s ‘frustration’ and ‘anger’ among Labour MPs. The solution would be for them to actually do something, but seemingly none of them know what to do.

Once again, it appears that none of the potential challengers are confident enough in their ability to challenge Starmer. Given how badly Starmer has fucked things, this really says a lot about the quality of the potential opposition.

At this point, you really have to wonder why any of them got into politics. These people should be jumping at the chance to enact their vision for Britain. Instead, as Donaldson reported:

the party is locked in endless circular discussions about whether Starmer is up to the job.

Additionally:

Several Labour MPs also talked up the prospect of Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper taking over from Starmer, perhaps in a temporary capacity.

In other words, they want to kick the can down the road and hope things magically resolve themselves.

Donaldson additionally noted:

We really don’t have a functional government at this point, do we?

While this minister remained anonymous, there was an MP who had the backbone to demand Starmer goes:

Even Brash offered no suggestion as to what should happen next.

Bizarrely, the iPaper article suggests that some Labour folks want a pact between Angela Rayner and Wes Streeting. Who is this supposed to appeal to?

We’re no fans of Rayner, but we do agree she’d be much better than Streeting, who would simply be a more ideologically driven version of Starmer. Rayner is better than many Labour politicians on issues like workers rights; Streeting is a privatisation fetishist with a habit for attacking workers.

It’s typical centrist thinking to believe that forcing these two together would result in balance rather than an absolute mess that appeals to no one.

Oh, and lest we forget, Streeting has just as much Mandelson stink on him as Starmer:

We don’t know what’s going to happen next, anyway.

Apparently no one does.

And we’re all just supposed to be okay with that.
