If you were in the mood to watch an old-school blockbuster family adventure, see Anne Hathaway’s wonderful face projected onto a 20-foot screen or just needed an excuse to chill in an air-conditioned room; you may well have spent some time in the cinema watching The End Of Oak Street at the weekend.

As you’ll know, the movie stars Oscar winner Anne and Ewan McGregor as the parents of a family in the early 80s who find that they, their kids and their entire family have been transported back through space and time, and must suddenly contend with dinosaurs on their cul-de-sac.

Early on, Ewan’s character perishes while trying to save his family, only to be brought back in the movie’s final moments through a good old bit of time-swapping.

However, speaking to USA Today, the Scottish actor admitted that the film didn’t always have such a happy ending.

Instead, he claimed that the original finale was even “more interesting” as it saw Anne’s character and her children winding up not travelling far enough in the future to save their dad, ending up “in the prairies during the settlers’ times” instead.

“They hadn’t made it back to their own time, and poor old Greg wasn’t there,” Ewan explained, praising that the finished movie allowed “the mending” of his and Anne’s characters’ relationship in its final scene.

Before the end of the year, she’s also set to share the screen with Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett in the Colleen Hoover adaptation Verity.

She’s got another project in post-production, having now completed work on the military drama Alone At Dawn, co-starring Adam Driver.
