Iran claims US aircraft support centre strike amid wave of retaliatory attacks

The Iran government claims to have inflicted the “full destruction” of US carrier-support and refuelling facilities in the Gulf.

Other reportedly-destroyed targets include a command centre and US drone facility in the Gulf.

Some facilities had been at least partially re-populated by the US military after widespread destruction rendered them “uninhabitable” in the first phase of the illegal US-Israel war.

The latest announcement comes amid a third renewed wave of missile and drone attacks on US bases in the region. The attacks were launched in retaliation for reported widespread US attacks on Iran, including on at least one of its nuclear power plants.

The DD Geopolitics media collective published a list to its Telegram channel of attacks it said had struck US bases, as reported by commentator Danny Haiphong.

The US claims the Hormuz Strait is open. Iran had attacked a number of ships it said were trying to slip through the Strait in breach of US obligations under the ‘memorandum of understanding’. However, shipping trackers appear to indicate only Iranian vessels are moving.

The war has fully re-started, but UK state-corporate media coverage of events appears extremely limited.
