In case you missed it, it’s a whimsy girl summer. We’re analogue. We’re offline. We’re friction maxxing.
If there’s one sure fire way to inject some juice back into your life, it’s by taking your sexual pleasure extremely seriously this summer.
The sun might be out, but what better way to end a day in the sun than by making yourself glow from the inside just as bright as it is outside?
Well, just in time for whimsy girl summer, Lovehoney has released a new clitoral suction vibrator that’s shaped like a strawberry.
An honest review of Lovehoney’s Strawberry Suction Toy
As someone with a penchant for cute things – especially cute sex toys – I knew I was going to have to try it out.
Listen, I’m a huge fan of suction sex toys. Ever since the category exploded around six years ago with the rise of the Rose toy, I’ve made it my job (literally) to test as many new releases out to find the best clit suction sex toy out there.
About me
I’ve been writing and podcasting about sex toys for the last six years. Of course, that means I’ve tested hundreds of sex toys in this time, including for the likes of Cosmopolitan, Women’s Health, The Evening Standard, and (duh) in my role at HuffPost UK.
In case it wasn’t clear, that means I really know my stuff when it comes to sex toys, especially those for people with vulvas.
First impressions
Whenever a new sex toy arrives on my doorstep, I’m desperate to try it out. But it’s fair to say that that energy is almost tenfold when Lovehoney releases a new Pleasure Air Technology (PAT) device.
For those not familiar, that’s Lovehoney’s patented suction technology that is designed to mimic the sucking sensations you’d experience during the best head of your life, and dare I say… better?
It’s the same technology used in famous sex toys like the Rose, and more recently the Peach Womanizer. I have to say, PAT is one of the best suction technologies out there.
And I had good reason to suspect it would be especially sweet when delivered in the shape of a strawberry.
I mean, just look at this little sucker – have you ever seen anything cuter?!
At just three inches long, it’s easy enough to shove in your drawer. Plus, there’s the added element of it looking like a cute little tchotchke that means it’s that much more discreet.
As always with PAT-loaded sex toys, the real test is whether you can keep it low key when you use it.
Getting started
As soon as I saw my new bedmate, I knew we were compatible. After charging it to full power, I practically jumped into bed.
Unlike the Womanizer Peach (which I didn’t love, sorry!) the green dangly leaves are stuck down to the body of the strawberry.
The result is a sturdy little mouth that, when combined with water-based lube, can deliver juicy, full-body orgasms.
I loaded the mouth with slathers of the stuff (you’ve gotta wash your fruit, after all) before switching on and settling on my favourite of its 10 intensities.
Let me tell you, I didn’t last long. Because it was so darn delicious, I went the extra mile of testing it in the shower (it’s waterproof, so you can do that!) with a partner, and even when my flatmates were home to test the noise levels.
You’ll be pleased to hear, the strawberry was a welcome addition to all of those scenarios. It’s pretty quiet, but naturally louder on the more powerful settings.
Also worth noting is the fact that adding lube can result in slurpy sounds that are kinda hard to disguise – but that doesn’t mean you should skimp on it.
Using lube with suction toys really elevates the sensations and helps to create a vacuum around the tip and your clitoris (or whatever other erogenous zones you wanna play with) and gets even closer to simulating the sensations of oral sex.
Final verdict
- Small and adorable
- Discreet and quite quiet
- 10 Pleasure Air Technology intensities to play with
- The design really does look like a strawberry
- Charge only lasts for 60 minutes
- Quite small so it can be a little fiddly to hold when you’re lubed up
After much deliberation (read: none) I’m pleased to announce that I am a huge fan of this strawberry vibrator.
Not only does the suction technology feel unlike any other I’ve tried, but seriously! Look how close to a real strawberry Lovehoney got with the design.
I know I’ll have no qualms leaving this on proud display on my bedside table, and I think it’ll be an ideal sex toy for beginners, those who are more shy about their masturbation habits, or don’t want to use an anatomical pleasure device.
The only downside is that it is quite small, and while that is great for travel and storage, it’s tricky to grasp it when things start to get really heated, and during certain partnered sex positions.
Plus, the battery lasts for just 60 minutes, but honestly I don’t think you’ll need that long with this vibrator, so it doesn’t matter.
Overall, it’s berry good.
