Rod Stewart Cancels Tour On Medical Grounds After Coronary Stent

Sir Rod Stewart has announced he’s been forced to cancel the remainder of his current US tour on medical grounds.

In the past week, the 81-year-old crooner postponed one show and cancelled another after what was described by one of the venues as “an unforeseen but minor medical procedure that required prompt attention”.

However, on Tuesday night, his team issued a statement confirming the rest of the tour would not be able to go ahead as he needs time to recuperate following a “routine coronary stent procedure”.

“Following further medical evaluation, Sir Rod Stewart has successfully undergone a routine coronary stent procedure,” they said. “Doctors are pleased with his recovery, and Rod is doing very well and has returned to his normal daily activities.

“On the advice of his doctors, he will take the next four weeks to recuperate and regain full fitness before returning to the stage. Unfortunately, this means he will be unable to continue his current tour dates.”

In his own statement, Sir Rod noted: “I’m already feeling better and very much on the mend. I want to thank the doctors, nurses and everyone who has taken such wonderful care of me.”

He added: “I’m deeply disappointed to miss these shows and sorry to let my fans down, but I look forward to getting back on stage and having a good time with you all again soon.”

Sir Rod is currently in the middle of his One Last Time tour, which had so far taken him across Europe and the US.

Back in 2024, he maintained that he has “no desire to retire”, but told fans that these shows would probably mark the end of him performing “large-scale world tours”.

The Maggie May singer claimed on social media: “I love what I do, and I do what I love. I’m fit, have a full head of hair, and can run 100 metres in 18 seconds at the jolly old age of 79.

“I’d like to move onto a Great American Songbook, Swing Fever tour the year after next – smaller venues and more intimacy…”

“But then again, I may not,” he added cryptically, signing off his message: “The ambiguous Sir Rod Stewart.”

Sir Rod also teased to TalkSport earlier this year that he intended to take part in a UK tour in 2027, including a date at London’s iconic O2 Arena, “and that’ll probably be it, I think”.

Meanwhile, in June, the Grammy winner was forced to briefly pause a live performance in West Valley City, Utah, so he could be administered with an oxygen mask.
