Trump Claims Latest Release Of Epstein Files ‘Absolves’ Him
President Donald Trump has claimed Saturday that the release of several millions of pages of files linked to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein “absolves him.”
Breaking his silence on the latest release of the files while aboard Air Force One during a flight from Washington, DC, to West Palm Beach, Florida, on Saturday, Trump said: “I was told by some very important people that not only does it absolve me, it’s the opposite of what people were hoping, you know, the radical left.”
The president then suggested he could threaten legal action against author Michael Wolff, alleging he and Epstein were “conspiring” against him since the release of a February 2016 email where Wolff suggested the serial rapist was the “bullet” that could terminate Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, according to Fox News.
“Wolff, who is a third-rate writer, was conspiring with Jeffrey Epstein to hurt me, politically or otherwise, and that came through loud and clear,” he said. “So, we’ll probably sue Wolff on that.”

On Friday, the Department of Justice released a trove of documents after Congress passed a law last year that legally required the Trump administration to release all the files.
Trump, among many other powerful figures such as Elon Musk and Bill Clinton, are referenced in the files. Being mentioned in the files is not necessarily a sign of wrongdoing or association with Epstein’s crimes.
Trump was referenced thousands of times in the documents, including emails in which Epstein and others shared news stories about him, made remarks about his policies or politics, and gossiped about him and his family.
There was also a spreadsheet created in August that compiled uncorroborated tips from people claiming to have some knowledge of wrongdoing by Trump.
