Will Little House On The Prairie Get A Season 2 On Netflix? Everything We Know

Considering how revered a property it is in the States, the stakes were certainly high for Netflix when the streaming service began putting together its new adaptation of Little House On The Prairie.

Adapting the classic stories for a new generation clearly wasn’t something Netflix took lightly, either, with the project taking around six years to make it to our screens, after first being announced as far back as 2020.

Fortunately for all concerned, the new take on Little House On The Prairie has already proved to be a success, earning mostly positive reviews and clearly pulling in viewers, too (at the time of writing, it’s already begun climbing up Netflix’s most-watched chart).

If you’ve already blown through all eight episodes of the series, you might already be keeping your fingers crossed that the streaming service is open to keeping it going – and fortunately, there’ve already been some updates on that front.

Clearly, Netflix had faith in their Little House On The Prairie reboot, as it was renewed for a second season way back in March, before most of us had even seen a single episode.

Showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine said at the time: “I’m incredibly grateful to our wonderful cast and crew, who put their hearts and hard work into making our first season come alive.

“We can’t wait to share this new adaptation of the Little House books with the world, and we’re thrilled that Netflix is giving us the opportunity to continue the story.”

Famously, some of Netflix’s biggest flagship shows take years out between seasons, much to viewers’ chagrin.

However, it seems Little House On The Prairie may be an exception.

While a release date is a long way off being announced, production was reported to be underway fairly recently, meaning we could expect to see the new episodes as soon as 2027.

With a wealth of material to get through, exact storylines for the next iteration of Little House Of The Prairie are being kept under wraps for now.

One thing we do know, though, is that the character Nellie Oleson will be introduced in season two, with Willa Dunn taking on the role.

Still early on in her career, child star Willa has racked up appearances in some big-name projects, including the murder mysteries Only Murders In The Building and Poker Face.

Also joining the cast are Charlotte Sullivan as Nellie’s mum, Margaret Oleson, and Rachelle Lefevre as schoolteacher Eva Beadle.
