2028 MLB All-Star Game to be hosted at Oracle Park in San Francisco

There’s going to be a few more baseballs at the bottom of McCovey Cove.

The 2028 MLB All-Star Game is coming to Oracle Park in San Francisco, the league announced on Friday.

It will be the fourth time that the Giants have hosted the Midsummer Classic.

The Chicago Cubs are set to host the 2027 edition at Wrigley Park, the oldest stadium in the National League. San Francisco last hosted in 2007 when Ichiro Suzuki won MVP honours after hitting the first inside-the-park home run in All-Star Game history.

Vladimir Guerrero Sr. won that year’s home run derby.

Guerrero’s son, Vladimir Jr., and Toronto Blue Jays, are considered one of the next teams on the list to host.

The Cubs have gone the longest since hosting an All-Star Game, last holding the festivities in 1990. The Blue Jays last hosted in 1991.

“A really significant factor in terms of All-Star Games is: when did you have the last one? It is not the sole determining factor, but it’s a significant one,” commissioner Rob Manfred said during a Baseball Writers’ Association of America meeting in June 2025.

“Obviously, (the Blue Jays) are kind of perking up to the top of the list based on time,” he continued. “I’d like to be back in Toronto. Rogers has made a really significant investment in terms of improvements in the stadium. TBD at this point, beyond that.”
