The Super Eagles’ 23 players are already in camp in Uyo as Nigeria begins preparations for their opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar.
The team held its first training session on Tuesday ahead of Friday’s match at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.
Wilfred Ndidi, Samuel Chukwueze and Stanley Nwabali are among the players who joined the squad for the session, but goalkeeper Maduka Okoye is still expected to arrive.
Nigeria will then travel to Guinea-Bissau for their second qualifier on September 29.
The Super Eagles will be without Victor Osimhen for the opening games because the striker is recovering from an injury.
Chelle’s immediate task will be getting the squad ready for Madagascar and making sure Nigeria starts the qualifying campaign with a positive result.
