Blue Jays activate LHP Ricky Tiedemann from minor league IL, sent to triple-A
As the Blue Jays shuffle around their pitching staff, a familiar name is making his return to the triple-A mound.
The Toronto Blue Jays have activated former top prospect Ricky Tiedemann from the minor-league injured list, sending him to triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday, per MILB’s transaction log.
The left-handed starting pitcher has been rehabbing in the lower minors as he recovers from elbow soreness he suffered while ramping up for the 2026 season.
This comes after making his first return to game action since undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2024.
Tiedemann was the top-rated prospect in the Jays system in 2023 and 2024, and was ranked as a top-100 prospect by MLB Pipeline prior to the injury.
He now sits at 10th in the Jays system.
He’s made four appearances in 2026 during his rehab assignment, split between the Dunedin Blue Jays at single-A and the FCL Blue Jays in rookie ball.
He’s racked up seven strikeouts in four innings while giving up one, and his fastball velocity has ramped back up, touching 98 m.p.h.
