Brighton and Hove Albion signs Canadian striker Promise David
Another Canadian is on his way to the Premier League.
Brighton and Hove Albion has finalized a deal to sign Canadian striker Promise David from Union Saint-Gilloise on a season-long loan with an obligation to buy should certain criteria be met, the team announced Tuesday.
David, 25, has enjoyed an impressive spell in the Belgian top league, scoring 41 goals and nine assists in 82 games across all competitions with the club. Along with his individual success, he also helped USG to the league title in the 2024-25 season, as well as the Belgian Cup in 2026.
With David leading the line, USG qualified for the Champions League for the first time in the club’s history for the 2025-26 campaign.
Now, the six-foot-five striker will have the chance to hone his skills at Brighton, a club well known for its developmental capabilities.
The Seagulls finished eighth in the Premier League last season and qualified for the UEFA Conference League, meaning David will still get a chance to play European soccer.
Brighton also lost starting striker Danny Welbeck to Chelsea over the summer, giving David some runway to vie for a starting spot in Fabian Hürzeler’s eleven.
