You’ve likely heard that the NBA All-Star Game format is different this season as commissioner Adam Silver continues trying to scrape up interest in a game none of the players take even remotely seriously. So this year, instead of West vs. East or squads chosen by captains, it’s going to be USA vs. the World with three teams of eight (two American and one World) for a total of 24 players competing in round-robin tournament.
The 10 starters were announced two weeks ago, and on Sunday night the seven reserves from each conference, which were voted on by the coaches, were revealed. Here are the full teams.
I came into this fully prepared to be made about some particular exclusions, but the coaches did the right thing and put both Avdija and Powell in. I didn’t think they would. I’m not surprised at LeBron getting in, and if you’re on Team Lifetime Achievement, that’s cool. I’m not. All four of the guys below, at least, should have gotten in over him.
Leonard is having a career season for a Clippers team that has been bulldozing teams for the last two months. His 27.7 PPG is a career high. He’s on track to join the ultra exclusive 50/40/90 shooting club. His 94% clip at the free-throw line leads the league, as do his 2.1 steals per game. The side by side vs. LeBron isn’t even close.
Kawhi, of course, is still the subject of an ongoing NBA investigation into potential salary cap manipulation against the Clippers.
Still, this exclusion is egregious. Kawhi is having an extraordinary season. If it’s close, fine, give LeBron the benefit of the doubt. But this isn’t close. I’m with Ty Lue on this.

Alperen Sengun, Rockets
Sengun is one of three players in the league averaging at least 20 points, nine rebounds and six assists. The other two are Nikola Jokić (best player on the planet) and Jalen Johnson (All-Star). Houston is one of the best teams in the league and only Durant gets in?

Frankly, you could make a very strong case that they should have gotten three guys in; Amen Thompson is an All-Star in his sleep in the East and for my money should be in over LeBron for sure and arguably Holmgren in the West, although OKC definitely deserves two nods before Houston deserves three.
Either way, Sengun should be in. If Kawhi should be taking LeBron’s place, then Sengun takes either Murray or Booker. Murray is having an extraordinary season and has long deserved his first selection, but if we’re not playing the “he’s earned it card” with LeBron, then has he really been better than Sengun? That’s close. If I absolutely had to make a call, I’d have Sengun in over Booker.
I’ll agree that the Clippers shouldn’t get two All-Stars when they’re clinging to a play-in spot, and Leonard is the biggest snub. But Harden has to be mentioned here. Another victim of playing in the West, Harden isn’t shooting very efficiently but is the driver of what has been the league’s fifth-best offense over the last two months.
I would obviously have Harden in on pure merit over LeBron, but to be fair, if we’re holding LeBron’s defense against him (which I am) then Harden doesn’t pass that test either. But the offense has been way better.

Only in this Western Conference can a seven-footer averaging 27 and 7 not be an All-Star. Again, it’s not a debate against LeBron. Markannen got snubbed (as did his teammate, Keyonte George, but we can only pick one Jazz guy and Markannen is the one).
I know I’ve mentioned Holmgren a few times as a guy a couple of these snubs have a case against, and it’s not that I don’t view Holmgren as an All-Star. He clearly is. His defense matters tremendously in an argument with a Markannen supporter. And the Thunder are the best team.

The truth is the NBA should get rid of the conference requirement in the voting since conferences aren’t even part of the actual game. All of these West guys would be in if we didn’t have to pick seven East guys (no disrespect to Pascal Siakam or Norm Powell or Karl-Anthony Towns).
But even in the current structure, a 27 and 7 player like Markannen not being an All-Star is pretty crazy.
Porter has completely reinvented himself as a bonafide go-to scorer and All-Star player in Brooklyn. He is a real delight as one of the few go-to guys operating almost exclusively off the ball, a Reggie Miller type that almost doesn’t exist anymore. Take a look at this.
Porter is averaging more points, rebounds and assists than Powell on higher shooting percentages.
I love Powell. I’m glad he’s in. I would have MPJ in over Towns.

Joel Embiid, 76ers
I’m going to include Embiid here because there was a lot of talk about him getting in, but I think the coaches got this one right. Yes, he’s been pretty dominant for a good while now and the Sixers are almost 10 points per 100 possessions better with him on the court, per CTG, but he started out rough and has ultimately only played in 28 games. That means about 20 of them have been truly All-Star level. If you think he should be in over Towns, who is having the worst shooting season of his career, I won’t argue with you. But I’m fine with him being left off.
Man Utd face West Ham in the Premier League on Tuesday as Michael Carrick looks to make it five wins in a row since being appointed head coach until the end of the season.
Teenager Tyler Fletcher is in the Manchester United squad for the trip to West Ham on Tuesday after coming off the bench to make his debut in the win against Tottenham at the weekend. United took the train from Stockport to London on Monday afternoon ahead of the fixture at the London Stadium tomorrow night, when Carrick will be looking to continue his perfect start to life as the club’s latest head coach.
Saturday’s 2-0 win against Tottenham was a fourth successive win for United under Carrick and Fletcher, 18, followed in the footsteps of twin brother Jack by making his first-team debut this season, coming off the bench in the 89th minute.

Carrick had already ruled Mason Mount and Matthijs de Ligt out of the trip to the capital, although Mount is expected back when United face Everton in two weeks. Patrick Dorgu is out for a couple of months with a hamstring injury.
Photographers snapped 20 players boarding the train, and the only member of the squad from Saturday who wasn’t seen was Leny Yoro, although that doesn’t necessarily mean he won’t be involved. Three of the 20 were goalkeepers and with Tom Heaton likely to drop out of the matchday squad, it would still leave United one player short of naming nine substitutes.
United will face a West Ham team who have just started to find some form. Although they remain in the relegation zone they have won three of their last four Premier League games and will present a different kind of test for Carrick, who is looking to continue a perfect start since being appointed head coach until the end of the season.
“I think you’ve got to go into the game understanding the situation of both teams,” he said. “We’ve tried to paint that picture to the players in every game we’ve played so far and it’ll be the same come Tuesday night.
“The type of game, the feel of the game, what kind of skills we’re going to have to try and draw on. Different games throw up different things. Teams towards the bottom of the league are really fighting for things, but so are we, and we’ve got a lot to fight for, so you’d like to think that balances out in some ways and it’s who can come out on top at the end of it.”

According to The Ring, Spence is set to take on Australian star Tim Tszyu, provided that Tszyu first comes through a warm-up bout beforehand.
“Errol Spence Jr will return to the ring vs. Tim Tszyu this summer, sources tell @ringmagazine. Spence hasn’t fought since his July 2023 loss to Terence Crawford. Tszyu will first take a tune-up fight in Australia prior to their bout, per sources.”
Tszyu became WBO super welterweight champion in 2023, defeating the likes of Tony Harrison and Brian Mendoza on his way to accumulating a 24-0 record, before he lost his belt to Fundora in a bloody battle that was also for the vacant WBC strap.
A brutal third round stoppage defeat to IBF champion Bakhram Murtazaliev then followed, before a seventh round retirement loss to Fundora in their rematch. The Aussie fighter has since changed his team around and bounced back with a unanimous decision win against Anthony Velazquez in December.
If the report is correct, Tszyu will have his interim bout at some point in the next couple of months, before then turning his attention to the showdown with Spence in the summer, who will be competing for the first time in three years when he returns.
The frequency of the Minnesota Vikings’ trade regimen may reduce this offseason with Kwesi Adofo-Mensah no longer in the seat as general manager, but Bleacher Report believes the purple team could target three players nevertheless: Kyler Murray (QB), Mac Jones (QB, and Deonte Banks (CB).
Minnesota may never pull the trigger, but the trio shows the range of outcomes on the table, from QB swing to cheaper insurance and CB help.
The Vikings, in theory, can explore trades at anytime and agree to them in principle, even before the start of free agency in one month.

1. Kyler Murray | QB
BR’s Alex Ballentine named the trio as Minnesota’s trade options and opined on Murray, “It would be much harder to figure out the money for a trade involving Kyler Murray. He would cost any team that trades for him $24.9 million. He would also pose a much bigger threat to McCarthy. Still, the Vikings have the defense and the skill talent to be a contender in the NFC and Murray could unlock that in O’Connell’s offense.”
Based on his career production to date and draft stock seven years ago — the first overall pick in 2019 — Murray is the best quarterback option the Vikings can find this offseason, unless one believes a trade for Joe Burrow or Lamar Jackson, for example, is realistic.

The Cardinals hired a new head coach, Mike LaFleur, and appear ready to move on from Murray after seven seasons and just one postseason trip.
In the last seven years, Murray’s EPA+CPOE sits ahead of Baker Mayfield, C.J. Stroud, Trevor Lawrence, and Daniel Jones — all quarterbacks currently projected to open 2026 as starters for their teams.
2. Mac Jones | QB
Ballentine noted on Jones as a Vikings’ trade candidate, “Mac Jones would be an ideal candidate. He has experience with Kyle Shanahan in San Francisco and he’s only going to cost a team that trades for him a $3.5 million cap hit.”

The problem here — unlike Murray — is that the 49ers are in no rush to trade Jones. He’s arguably the best QB2 insurance policy in the NFL, and San Francisco QB1 Brock Purdy is not Iron Man.
ESPN’s Nick Wagoner wrote Sunday, “Despite continued speculation, the San Francisco 49ers have no plans to trade quarterback Mac Jones this offseason and fully intend to bring him back as Brock Purdy’s backup, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Sunday.”
“In an ever-uncertain quarterback landscape, Jones has been a potential offseason trade target for teams in need of a starter. But at least for now, the Niners don’t plan to part with Jones, who is under contract for another year at a salary cap number of $3.07 million. Niners coach Kyle Shanahan said as much at his end-of-season news conference when asked about dealing Jones, though he also left the door cracked open.”

The case for Jones landing in Minnesota — or anywhere — is simple. He started eight games in 2025, and San Francisco went 5–3 during that stretch. Stretch those eight games across a full season, and you’re looking at roughly 4,570 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, 13 interceptions, and a 69.6 percent completion rate.
That production tracks closely with Sam Darnold’s 2024 output, the same season Minnesota went 14–3. Nothing in Jones’ recent tape or efficiency suggests he would walk into Minnesota and suddenly fall apart.

It’s whether the 49ers price-gouge for his services, and whether the Vikings take the bait.
3. Deonte Banks | CB
The final former 1st-Rounder of BR’s exercise, Banks would evidently be a welcome addition to Brian Flores’s secondary. It’s just that fans would have to hope that he fundamentally improved upon arriving in Minneapolis.

American skier Hunter Hess appeared to backtrack on the “mixed emotions” he said he had about representing the U.S. at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy.
Hess drew backlash from President Donald Trump and others when he made his initial comments to reporters last week. But after a few days, Hess made clear what it means to wear the red, white and blue on one of the biggest stages in sports.

“I love my country,” he wrote with an American flag emoji. “There is so much that is great about America, but there are always things that could be better.
“One of the many things that makes this country so amazing is that we have the right and the freedom to point that out. The best part of the Olympics is that it brings people together, and when so many of us are divided we need that more than ever. I cannot wait to represent Team USA next week when I compete.”
Hess’ comments came as the Trump administration faced backlash over the use of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in enforcement operations. An incident with ICE agents in January left Renee Good dead in Minnesota. Border Patrol agents also had a deadly encounter with Alex Pretti.

Those incidents were apparently used as the catalyst for the comments from Hess and his teammate Chris Lillis. Hess said he had “mixed emotions” about representing the U.S.
“It brings up mixed emotions to represent the U.S. right now, I think. It’s a little hard. There’s obviously a lot going on that I’m not the biggest fan of, and I think a lot of people aren’t,” Hess said.
“I think, for me, it’s more I’m representing my friends and family back home, the people that represented it before me, all the things that I believe are good about the U.S. If it aligns with my moral values, I feel like I’m representing it. Just because I’m wearing the flag doesn’t mean I represent everything that’s going on in the U.S.

Despite her Olympic comeback lasting just mere seconds, American skier Lindsey Vonn said Monday she has “no regrets.”
Vonn’s defiant bid to win the Winter Olympic downhill at the age of 41, on a rebuilt right knee and a badly injured left knee, ended Sunday in a frightening crash that left her with a broken leg and saw her taken to safety by a rescue helicopter for the second time in nine days.
Vonn lost control within moments of leaving the start house, clipping a gate with her right shoulder and pinwheeling down the slope before ending up awkwardly on her back, her skis criss-crossed below her and her screams ringing out soon after medical personnel arrived.
Speaking for the first time on Monday since the crash, Vonn gave an update on her injury.

“Unfortunately, I sustained a complex tibia fracture that is currently stable but will require multiple surgeries to fix properly,” Vonn said in an Instagram post.
All eyes had been on Vonn, the feel-good story heading into the Olympics. She returned to elite ski racing last season after nearly six years, a remarkable decision given her age, but she also had a partial titanium knee replacement in her right knee, too.
And though her comeback didn’t have a storybook ending, Vonn said she wouldn’t have changed a thing.
“While yesterday did not end the way I had hoped, and despite the intense physical pain it caused, I have no regrets,” Vonn said on Instagram. “Standing in the starting gate yesterday was an incredible feeling that I will never forget. Knowing I stood there having a chance to win was a victory in and of itself. I also knew that racing was a risk. It always was and always will be an incredibly dangerous sport.”

If anything, she’s hoping people can learn a valuable lesson from her comeback attempt.
“I hope if you take away anything from my journey, it’s that you all have the courage to dare greatly,” Vonn wrote. Life is too short not to take chances on yourself. Because the only failure in life is not trying.
Heading to Caulfield for a between-races gallop exhibition has smoothed the edges of Tentyris as he nears his return in the Group 1 Lightning Stakes at Flemington.
The three-year-old colt, prepared by Anthony and Sam Freedman, is readying for two starts ahead of a possible international campaign including Royal Ascot mid-season.
In his Saturday workout, the colt steered clear of blistering times, though Sam Freedman emphasized the value of the full race-meeting immersion for Tentyris.
“He’s been on track for an hour-and-twenty, he had a play around, a sweat, he’s been stimulated,” Freedman said.
“It’s been a big day for him and that will bring on his fitness as much as anything else, and he will go back to Flemington that little bit more relaxed I would imagine.
“We took him for a couple of race day gallops last preparation, and it seemed to work well enough and hopefully it will take the edge off him for next week.”

Freedman revealed that Godolphin discussions have finalized just the Lightning Stakes and Newmarket Handicap for the colt’s immediate plans.
“The first two runs are pencilled in and then it’s up in the air,” Freedman said.
“He’s got to come back in the Lightning and run very well, and if he was to win the Lightning, we would have to see what weight he gets in the Newmarket.
“There have been conversations around overseas, but it’s all form dependant, how the horse is going, what’s best for him.

“There’s been no chat about a premature retirement or anything like that.
“If the horse is in form there is every chance he will race on into his four-year-old year, so there’s is the chance of travel then if he is going well.”

Vokey officially launched its new SM11 wedges last month, and PGA Tour adoption happened almost immediately. Why? That answer is simple.
SM11 was engineered with a brand new CG story. The T Grind seemed to be a widespread favorite among players on the PGA Tour, specifically due to the flight it produced. But the T Grind wasn’t necessarily the best sole shape for every player. This meant PGA Tour reps needed to custom grind wedges, or create special offerings, to give players that nice low T-Grind flight with the sole shape that actually fit their game. That leads us to the SM11.
The entire SM11 family was matched to that SM10 T Grind CG location. Across the same loft every grind has a precise CG location that’s identical to each other. It does change progressively, however, as you change loft with a lower CG in the pitching and gap wedge lofts and a higher CG in the sand and lob wedge lofts. This helps to encourage an easier to launch full swing option in the longer, lower-lofted clubs and more control and a lower flight in the shorter, higher-lofted offerings.
So with all the CG locations now precisely matched, the only question you need to answer is what grind works best for your game. The first step? Click here and do some research on the new lineup and who the different grinds are designed for. Vokey does an amazing job explaining their lineup, and you’ll likely learn something new as well. Once you feel confident and armed with some knowledge, head to your local PGA Tour Superstore and start investigating.

When testing wedges, it’s important to play around with different grinds. (I suggest hitting about a 50-yard pitch shot, or something similar. You’ll notice quickly the ones that just straight up do not work for your delivery.) The key here is to work on eliminating the ones that aren’t working. What you’re looking for is the ability to hit the wedge consistently with a new sound and feel off the face. Impact between grooves 2 and 5 is really the sweet spot we are after. At this point, pick the three that felt the best to you, and continue to the next test.
After you’ve picked your three favorites, now it’s time to start hitting different types of shots. The most important thing a good lob wedge can do for you is unlock creativity around the greens. That level of creativity though is set by the player. Some are going to have different types of shots in their arsenal and it’s important you try whatever you have locked and loaded. For example, an important shot for me is about a 45-degree open face that I sort of chop down on. That adds a lot of effective bounce to the wedge and can be a hard shot to match up to the right grind. It’s one of the reasons I got put into an M Grind when I got fit for SM11. Take the three options you selected and hit lots of shots. Go back and forth between the different options and hit the same shots. Hit a couple in a row with one and then switch to another, then go one for one. You’ll quickly realize that one of these three is no longer as good for you as the other two. With the final two selected, we can finish the fight for the bag.

With the last two in your selection process you need to make sure that you can hit the 75-80% swings you’ll use on the course. For me, with a lob wedge, that’s about a 90-yard shot. Depending on what options you’ve picked for yourself at this point you may notice that there is a significant difference in impact on these more full shots. As you translate that to playing on course, we’re talking about the differences in clean contact and heavy or thin contact due to different sole designs. A steeper player may get more comfortable in a higher bounce offering with a little bit more leading edge relief, something like the 14º K grind from Vokey. Shallow players, or players who have really good control of their low point, may find themselves working better into something like the 6º T grind.

Some golfers will complain about doing this step off mats, but take it as a blessing in disguise. The mat is consistent. It’s giving you the same lie on every swing. When testing these last two options against each other, you’ll be able to feel the contact difference between them on these fuller shots. It may also be the time to ask an employee to borrow some impact tape and see exactly where you’re hitting each club. If you’re noticing the contact ride up the face a bit, you may be in a grind that’s too sharp, or doesn’t allow you to get smoothly through impact. Remember, we want that contact point between grooves 2-5.

This process should take no more than about 50 swings from start to finish. My best advice is to be harsh with your feedback. All you’re doing here is picking the right option for YOU. There’s so many options available from Vokey now that spending some time in a PGA Tour Superstore bay and grinding to figure out the right one for you is not only worth the time for the purchase, but it can be really fun. Bring a buddy with you and decide together, or take the chance to bring your bag and get some practice in as well.
