Everything you need to know about the 12 players who have left Manchester City this summer:

  1. So far this summer, City have confirmed 12 players have exited the club ahead of the 2026/27 season.
  2. At the end of last season, the Blues said an emotional farewell to Bernardo Silva and John Stones, who departed as their contracts expired. Bernardo has since signed for Real Madrid while Stones is still a free agent.
  3. City also confirmed that Manuel Akanji, as expected, had left the Etihad Stadium permanently after spending last season on loan at Inter. The Milan club purchased him for £13m.
  4. Nathan Ake has also left City for Fenerbahce in a £7m deal that could rise to £8.5m. This ensured four Champions League winners departed this summer.
  5. City have also continued their transfer strategy of selling academy stars who aren’t quite ready to progress into the first team. Jahmai Simpson-Pusey and Reigan Heskey have both been sold to FC Koln for £4.7m rising to a potential £6.4m and £2.1m rising to a potential £6.8m, respectively.
  6. As is the case with many of City’s academy sales, the deals included buy-back and matching rights clauses.
  7. Defender Isaac Smith has also left City, joining Barnsley for an undisclosed fee. He will be joined in League One by promising goalkeeper Oliver Whatmuff, who has agreed a loan move to Stockport County.
  8. Sverre Nypan, who struggled on loan at Middlesbrough last season, has joined City Football Group (CFG) side Lommel on another temporary deal. Meanwhile, Mathys Detourbet, who signed from CFG club Troyes for £21m this summer, has immediately been sent on loan to AS Monaco.
  9. Finally, youngsters Ashton Muir and Ezra Carrington have left on free transfers. In total, City have brought in £45.7m from player sales so far. Read the full story here.
